Everybody has a hero and thinks about heroes differently. I think a hero is someone who is kind and generous and most of all helpful. The person who displays all of these qualities is my uncle Robby who has always been there for me.
The first reason why my uncle is my hero is because he’s generous with his time. If I ever wanted to come over to his house, even for a sleepover, he would put in the extra work so I was able to come over. For example, last Wednesday I was sick at school. My mom was in Costa Rica and couldn’t pick me up. Fortunately, my uncle was willing to stop what he was doing and come to my school to pick me up.
The second reason my uncle is my hero is because he is filled with kindness. When my uncle was a kid, my mom said he would always be the one to include other kids in activities. If there was a bully he would be the first one to stand up and defend the child being bullied. He’s the nicest guy I know.
The last reason my uncle is my hero is because he’s always been my second dad. On May 10th, 2012, my dad passed away from pancreatic cancer and ever since my uncle has tried to fill that role as best he can. He will never be able to replace my dad, but he can always make me feel better.
In conclusion, my uncle has passed all the tests of being kind, generous and helpful. This is why my uncle is my hero.

This made my heart sing and brought tears (the good kind) to my eyes.
All the other children wrote about influential public figures, but Frankie insisted on writing about her uncle. What a lovely tribute to an amazing man! So glad you enjoyed it! (It made all of us weepy when we took turns reading it at our recent family gathering as well!)
This is a lovely story by Frankie. Congratulations Frankie on a well-written and heartfelt story. I can see why Robbie is your hero. Not only is he kind and generous to you but also to all the members of his family. He has been really wonderful to us too. Grandad and Gramma Susan
Everybody needs a Robby in their lives! We are so lucky, aren’t we?
Robby is the most humble, kind, considerate and thoughtful person I’ve met. This is true and so well articulated!
He sure is! What a gift Frankie gave to write this essay about him! Kirsten
